This summer, Arvand Dashtaray will bring the play The Belgian Fish to the stage.
According to the project’s media consultant, the play is written by Léonore Confino and will be performed in a Persian translation by Hamidreza Amanpour Gharaei.
Léonore Confino is a prominent French playwright known for her sharp language, dark humor, and psychologically nuanced narratives. Also an actress, Confino often explores the complexities of identity, family, and human relationships in her work, creating multi-layered and emotionally charged characters with a contemporary and compassionate perspective.
The Belgian Fish is considered one of her most significant plays, blending humor, tragedy, and mystery to take the audience on an introspective journey full of discovery. The play tells an unusual story of a surprising encounter and was first staged in France about six years ago, receiving widespread acclaim.
This production marks the latest work by Virgule Performing Arts Company and will be performed in Tehran during the summer months of Mordad and Shahrivar.
The full cast and creative team will be announced soon, along with more details about the performance.
Last year, Dashtaray directed Bluebeard featuring Setareh and Khosro Pasyani, Kazem Sayahi, and Parisa Shahvalian at the Cube Hall of the Book Garden Performing Arts Center.
