Theatre Laundering to Be Presented at The Byre Theatre in St Andrews

Theatre Laundering, directed by Arvand Dashtaray and written by Naghmeh Samini, will be presented on 23 September 2026 at The Byre Theatre in St Andrews, Scotland.

Produced by Virgule Film & Performing Arts Company, the interactive performance explores migration, identity, artistic practice, and the transformation of narratives as they move across cultural and geographical boundaries.

The project draws on the experiences of Newsha Tavakolian, Setareh Nafisi, and Marene van Holk, bringing together different perspectives on the challenges artists and migrants encounter while navigating between cultures and artistic environments.

The St Andrews presentation is part of the Conference on Iranian Theatre: Alternative Discourses of Heroism and Emancipation in Iranian Theatre, hosted by the University of St Andrews.

The performance will take place at 18:30 on 23 September 2026, followed by a post-performance discussion.

Theatre Laundering was previously presented in the Netherlands and continues its international programme with performances in Scotland and further dates scheduled for 2026 and 2027.
