Description: Butterfly & Yoke is Iran’s first international theater practice after the revolution in 1978. This 2 language (Farsi-French) show was made during radical right wing president Mahmod Ahmadinejad. And Virgule could manage to invite and work with 5 professional French actors and 15 french acting students combined with 6 Iranian actors. Imagine in the first days if his government we started our rehearsals in Tehran. In the days that new protocols were announced for censorship and no one knew how to deal with this project. But we could make it happen and this show was performed many times in festivals and theaters in Tehran and Paris. This show was the start engine of intercultural collaborations in Iran’s theater and also made strong confidence for Virgule to continue on this path.

Charmshir originally made this play for Virgule’s recent methods of making theater.which was based on poetic drama and presence of performer. The play was a re-reading of CVincent Van gog’s letters to theo (his Brother) and it became one the remarkable plays of Charmshir .
